December Holiday Rum Balls

While this is not a "gift basket" per se, it is one of my favorite homemade holiday gifts ... rum balls! Especially great if you need 5-10 small gifts for individuals who appreciate a gift from your kitchen.

First buy several brandy glasses (short-stemmed, large bowl glasses). They need not be expensive. Make the rum balls 2 weeks in advance of giving the gift, as the rum needs about 2 weeks to "mellow" in flavor.

Roll the finished rum balls in confectionery sugar and gently fill each brandy glass with the balls until nearly overflowing. Careful not to knock-off the confectionery sugar! Cover entire glass with saran wrap, and seal-off the saran with a festive holiday bow at the bottom neck of the glass.

Voila, what a festive, personal gift!
