Recycled crafts are simple to create and the recycling bin is a great place to look for craft supplies. Create figures using boxes, plastic cups and cans by gluing them together and covering them with papier mache. Cans are perfect for making decorative containers. Paint the can and decorate in themes for holidays or homemade gifts.
Cardboard boxes have endless possibilities. Paint the boxes and decorate as buildings. Fill them with some dried beans for weight, paint them and use them for building blocks. Rescue other items from the recycling bin such as scratched CDs/DVDs, old clothing, and plastic and glass containers. Add them to your craft free-for-all and see what you can make. - Glue sequins to a satin Christmas ball.
- Make a “Christmas tree” from a pine cone. Add glue and glitter and some ribbon.
- Twist 2 colors of pipe cleaner together. Bend one end into a hook and you have candy canes decorations for your tree.
- Lay a down piece of wax paper. Use glitter glue to draw Christmas shapes such as bells, candy canes, stockings, etc. Make sure the glue is thick. Let dry thoroughly. Peel your design off the wax paper. Glue a loop of yarn to the back for a hanger
- Paint a can from your recycling bin in a Christmas color. Glue red peppermint candies over the entire surface for a great holiday container.
