If you make your own gift fruit baskets you can choose the type of fruit you think your recipient would like, or would maybe like to try! Add something a little out of the ordinary such as pomegranates or paw paw, or even fresh figs.

You'd probably be surprised at the amount of people who have never eaten a fresh fig. They make wonderful fruit basket gifts and taste like a mixture of peaches and strawberries, divine!

Remember not to purchase your produce too far in advance, you'll want to ensure maximum freshness for your basket.

Container Ideas

First you’ll need to choose a suitable gift container try a wooden crate, a wicker basket or a serving tray.

You could also use the LID of a gift box as a tray as long as it's reasonably deep and sturdy.

Line the base of your basket or box with tissue paper, or a tea towel, just make sure you use plain paper or cloth, and not patterned, so as not to distract from your stunning display!

Just stack each basket on top of the one underneath and tuck the chains in neatly so they are out of sight.

Fruit Suggestions

There is a huge range of deliciously yummy juicy fresh produce to choose as your fruit basket gifts, depending on what’s in season of course! Buy organic too if you wish.

Here’s a few ideas to get you started.

Stone fruits such as apricots, cherries, nectarines, peaches, pears and plums.

Citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines and mandarins.

Tropical fruits such as mango, paw paw, pineapple, papaya and watermelon.

Try adding bananas, passion fruit and kiwifruit to add color and a variety of textures.

Putting it all together!

Arrange your goodies attractively in your container. Start with a larger piece such as a pineapple or melon and arrange your smaller pieces around that. Finish off with a bunch of something you can drape over the top, like grapes or cherries or even the kind of berries that come attached to a branch!
