Best Gift Wrapping Ideas
to Wrap your Gift Containers

gift-wrapping-ideas-chocolate When it comes to the best gift wrapping ideas for your basket, cellophane will usually give you the best result.

You can wrap your container using gift basket cellophane from a roll or try an easy pre-made cellophane bag option. (Scroll down for a tip on how to get the correct measurement).

The following gift wrapping techniques may seem a little daunting at first, but bear in mind that the PRESENTATION of your basket is equally as IMPORTANT as the presents themselves.

Choosing the correct basket wrapping ideas is a crucial step towards ensuring that your basket has that WOW factor!

IMPORTANT TIP

Have a read through the following and find a gift wrap idea that works BEST with your chosen container.

Once you're happy with the overall presentation of your basket it’s a good idea to LEAVE THE ROOM for a moment and then come back for a final check.

WHY?

Because it's always much easier to make any last minute changes to your basket BEFORE you make use of any of the gift wrapping ideas!

Cellophane Gift Wrapping Ideas
for Picnic Baskets and Tote Bags

  1. Roll the cellophane out on your bench then place your gift basket on top of the cellophane, approximately in the middle. Hold each side of the cellophane up so that it reaches the top of the highest point in your basket, possibly a wine bottle, or the handles of a picnic basket then add about an extra 10 to 12 inches. Place the roll back on your bench and cut the cellophane wrap across, being careful not to break it.

  2. Bring the edges of the cellophane together and ensure that they are an even length at the front and the back of the basket and also on each side. Adjust if necessary.

  3. Using both hands scrunch the cellophane wrap together in the middle and secure with either a small piece of ribbon (an excellent way to use up all those little extra bits of ribbon that are too small for any other jobs but too big to throw away!) or a twist tie which you can remove after you attach your bow. Spread the scrunched up cellophane out like a
fan and check that it's neat and tidy
    and not creased over!

  4. Turn your basket around sideways and gently pull the cellophane into place so that there are no gaps and nothing can fall out! Then turn the basket around to face you once more and just check the placement of the gifts is still OK.

  5. Turn the basket back around on it's side and tuck the underneath piece of cellophane wrap up the side of the basket then fold the edges over each other, back to front then front to back as neatly as you can. Cellophane is quite forgiving so you can use extra tape if it's not perfect! Repeat for the other side.

  6. You may also need to tidy up the bottom of your basket especially if you have used a round container. Use a piece of tape about two inches long, place half the tape on top of the area you are taping close to the bottom of your basket. Pull the tape tight and tape the other end neatly underneath the basket. Continue in this way around the basket until all the edges are flat.

Here's a video that will show you how to wrap a basket with cellophane. Personally I prefer to tape my sides AFTER I have secured my top piece, BUT as with most things each of us has our own way of doing something, I would suggest you try both ways and see what works best for you :)

Cellophane Bag Wrapping Instructions

As a simple alternative for wrapping a round container try a gift basket cellophane bag instead. Simply measure the width of the container (from side to side) and then measure the diameter (from front to back.)

If you then add the two measurements together that will give you the width of the bag you'll need. If you can't get the exact size you need, be sure to go for a cellophane bag that's a little larger rather than smaller!

Place the bag on your work bench and fold the outside edges of the bag down far enough so that you are able to place your basket inside easily. Then gently roll the edges back up around your basket. Secure the bag with a ribbon the same as before and proceed with your decorations, bows and so on.

CELLO FAN

You can also add a delightful CELLO FAN or PLUME to the top of your gift basket as a nice finishing touch. Check out this video for an easy to follow tutorial.

Cellophane Gift Wrapping Ideas
for Serving Trays and Platters

  1. Follow the same first step as above then measure your cellophane across the platter in one direction and then again in the opposite direction and cut carefully, taking care not to rip it. Lay your cellophane out on the bench. Place your platter on one edge of the cellophane so it comes about halfway underneath.

Depending on what you have on your platter it could be very heavy so please proceed with caution!

  2. Place the cellophane across the top of the platter and tuck the remaining piece underneath, being very careful not to dismantle all your beautifully arranged presents.

  3. Move your platter a little off your bench (one end at a time) and tape the cellophane in place underneath. Turn the platter to one side and fold the edges of the cellophane neatly together and tape underneath. Do the same on the other side. You can also put some extra tape in the middle underneath if you need to as well.

THAT'S IT!

Add a gorgeous satin bow and you're DONE! Wonderful!
