Important As ovens tend to cook differently it's best to check your cookies around the eight minute mark. I swap my trays over after four minutes and take the cookies out when they still look a little underdone, this ensures they remain nice and soft. Obviously if you prefer your chocolate chip cookies on the more crunchy side leave them in the oven for a couple more minutes!

Chocolate maple cookies 4oz butter, softened 1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons maple syrup 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 cup all purpose flour 1 cup chocolate buttons - Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- Using an electric beater, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the maple syrup and sifted cocoa.
- Sift over the flour and mix well.
- Spoon walnut sized balls onto a cookie sheet lined with baking paper and flatten slightly. Decorate with a few chocolate buttons. Leave enough room for spreading.
- Bake for 10/12 minutes until firm and golden.
Makes approximately 24 biscuits. The biscuits will still be soft and have a cakey appearance when you remove them, don't be tempted to put them back in the oven! The chocolate will burn, which will make the biscuits taste quite bitter, I know this from personal experience :( Leave them on the trays to harden for a few moments then remove to a wire rack to cool completely. If you want to be super indulgent melt some more chocolate buttons and drizzle over the top of the biscuits once they have cooled. Yum! Here's some awesome pages for you to see!
