Homemade Playdough Recipe

homemade-playdough-recipe
Looking for an easy homemade playdough recipe?

Playdough is such fun stuff to play with and very SIMPLE to mold into all kinds of amazing shapes.

It's especially nice for heating up those little fingers on a cold morning when it’s freshly made and still warm!

Check out these easy to follow recipes, there's even an EDIBLE playdough recipe, flavored with honey and peanut butter, yum!

You can purchase bags of different shaped cutters to use with your playdough. Or if you bake and use lots of cookie cutters they will work well too (but not the metal ones, they tend to be a bit sharp on the little fingers!)

Cooked Playdough
2 cups water
2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon cooking oil
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
Food coloring

  1. Combine ingredients.

  2. Cook in a pot, stirring constantly, until most of the moisture is absorbed. Add a little vanilla essence to the mixture to give your playdough an extra nice smell.

  3. Store in a covered container. No need to refrigerate.

Non Cook Playdough
2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1/2 to 1 cup cold water
Food coloring

  1. Mix flour, salt, oil. Add food coloring to water. Gradually add water to flour mixture.

  2. Knead.

  3. Store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator.

Edible Playdough
8 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
4 tablespoons creamed honey
12 tablespoons non-fat dried milk

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl using a wooden spoon and then your hands.

  2. Cut into pieces and store in individual bags in the refrigerator for up to two weeks
