Homemade Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 clove garlic crushed 1 onion sliced 1 tablespoon tomato paste 2 14oz cans chopped tomatoes salt and freshly ground black pepper 1 teaspoon sugar 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
- Heat the oil in a large saucepan over a medium heat. Add the garlic and onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until just soft but
don't let them brown. - Add the tomato paste and cook, stirring constantly for 1 minute. This helps to give the sauce a richer flavor rather than just plonking it in!
- Add the canned tomatoes, turn down the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, until thickened.
- Stir through the salt and pepper, sugar, basil and parsley. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

- Peel and dice the onions finely, chop garlic. Saute the onions and garlic together in the oil for about 3 minutes on a medium heat or until they become transparent.
- Add white wine, simmer gently until the liquid is reduced by half.
- Add the tomato paste and canned tomatoes and cook for a further 5 minutes.
- Add salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.
