Sympathy Gift Basket
Wanted to share my ideas on making and giving sympathy gift baskets, as I have been doing that for many years, instead of sending flowers.
The idea of a tea and cookies basket it great. You can include packets of instant tea, hot chocolate AND coffee, if you don't know the person very well. They soothe.
Crunchy things like nuts and pretzels helps to soothe the nerves, also.
A book on the several stages of grieving and healing, that everyone goes through, is an excellent choice to include.
My best idea is when to deliver a sympathy basket. Make it personal. Deliver it the day after the funeral.
That is a lonely day. Most of the visitors have scattered. Reality sets in. A lovely basket coming to your door, just for you, is unforgettable.
